HUDSON – While many New England Patriots fans began this week distraught, Holly Perkins had to put her skin where her mouth was.

Having agreed to a bet with New York Giants fan David Stoker, Perkins, a Nashua resident, showed up at Wayne’s Tattoo World in Hudson on Tuesday. Owner Wayne Morel tattooed the hated Giants’ “NY” logo on her right shoulder. “A bet’s a bet. I had to do it,” Perkins said. “It just stinks that the Patriots lost. I’m so depressed.

Going into Super Bowl XLVI, Perkins was supremely confident. Confident enough to agree to the bet and sure that it would be a Patriots logo being tattooed on Stoker, a Methuen, Mass., resident. The Giants won 21-17 Sunday evening. “I’m just sad that they lost. I can’t believe it,” Perkins said. “I was just so sure they were going to win.”

Perkins grew up watching the Patriots and Red Sox with her family. Her dad died when she was just 4, but her brothers told her about what a huge Patriots fan their father was back in the days when they were the Boston Patriots in the AFL and the NFL’s New York Giants still had a strong New England following.

“My whole family is all about the Patriots and Boston fans,” Perkins said. Stoker didn’t get the final score quite right – he predicted a 27-24 Giants win – but was correct that it would be an exciting game.

“I know it’s going to be a good one just like in ’08,” Stoker said before the game.
